LEISURE
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
William Henry Davies
WHAT’S GOING ON?
All the greatest books say that life is about love and laughter…the childlike joy that young children have.
They tell us that’s where true freedom lies
There’s so much pressure from society on how to look, to achieve, to please friends and family, to have amazing relationships, to try things you may or may not feel comfortable doing. All this, instead of being yourself.
Add ADHD and extra sensitivity to this, and it’s a hot mess.
THE OVERWHELMING BURDEN OF ADHD
- One of the best things about ADHD is that you know the wonder and potential of life. You want to be free to live on your own terms.
- Many people with ADHD struggle with rules, restrictions, and social conventions such as white lies, and fake smiles.
- When you have such an innate understanding of life, being around mediocrity, or boring, fake, or unkind people is difficult. You need YOUR tribe; people like you who have a lust for life.
- Extra sensitivity and awareness mean life can be overwhelming, and there are struggles with focus, attention, time, and memory.
- The world itself is overwhelming. There’s so much and it comes so fast. Anything is possible, even flying to Mars. Changes can be too much. You need peace and understanding whilst making sense of yourself and the world.
THE WAY THROUGH
- Get clear!
- Create a vision board (get a huge piece of paper, cut pictures out of magazines that resonate with your hopes and dreams for the future, and stick them to the paper). Hang your vision board in a place where you see it every day.
- Journal the vision for your life.
- Make a soundtrack for the life you want.
- Get clear on what’s really going on:
How much of what you’re going through happens to everyone?
How much is specifically ADHD (being born extra sensitive in a good way, and in a difficult way)
- People fail in life when they don’t have a plan (that’s everyone, not just people with ADHD)
We’re here to fast track you to success by unraveling life’s mysteries and helping you understand the big picture.
THE BIG DECISIONS
Decide what you most want in your life.
e.g. Success, relationships, health, happiness, etc.
Get clear on what you need to achieve your goals.
e.g. Maybe you need to research groups and clubs so that you can get out more and meet new people.
Take action!
Once you know what you want, and how to get it, it’s time to take steps to make it happen!
Find ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough” - Emily Dickinson
