Sometimes, being different feels a lot like being alone. But with that being said, being true to that and being true to my standards and my way of doing things in my art and my music, everything that has made me feel very different...in the end, it has made me the happiest.” - Lindsey Stirling

Difference, difference…

ADHD MEANS

You’re sensitive to more stimuli than others, and life becomes overwhelming.

The overwhelm causes the prefrontal cortex of the brain to diminish. This is the part of the brain responsible for attention. Hence ADHD problems.

Even though you may struggle through your obstacles to access them, you’ll have areas of brilliance and exceptional talents.

There are often family issues, since parents of those with ADHD are more likely to be different, brilliant, and lost themselves. Family issues result in attachment, rejection, abandonment struggles, emotional unavailability, anxiety and depression. Lots of trauma.

The same part of the brain (the prefrontal cortex) affected by ADHD, is also affected by trauma, which makes for a double whammy if you have both.

LGBTQ MEANS

Being different from the majority is accepted now more than ever, but it’s still in the margins, and we live in a global society where people are still murdered for difference.

Everyone wants to be accepted, to be known and loved for who they are.

Insecure people use difference as an excuse to ostracize others and make themselves feel less empty.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of insecure people.

THE ANTIDOTE

The antidote to struggling as a ‘different’ person is to step confidently into who you are

Interestingly, it can be somewhat easier to do this with sexuality than ADHD in many western countries.

Differences in sexuality are becoming accepted.

With ADHD however, differences aren’t so easily accepted, since struggles with time, attention, etc. affect and annoy others.

ADHD isn’t as understood as it might be, either.

It’s still shrouded in chaos and confusion, even by the person who has it.

Therefore, it’s vital you understand ADHD, and advocate for your needs.

We wrote The A-List Formula to help you with this. It’s a framework to give you clarity, and help you find your voice.

ON A SIDE NOTE

Difference, trauma, isolation, loss of trust, drama, depression, anxiety, and addiction all go hand in hand.

You’ll find that you attract and are attracted to people, colleagues, and situations which mirror your past trauma.

These relationships can drag you down

Which takes us back to the antidote…. Step into you!

We’re here to help you be the most successful, uncluttered, happy, version of you.

Most human beings simply cannot tolerate being disengaged from others for any length of time. People who cannot connect through work, friendships, or family usually find other ways of bonding, as through illnesses, lawsuits, or family feuds.” - Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma
