ADHD magnifies everything
Eg. senses such as hearing, touch, taste are heightened.
Good things are super good, and the bad things super bad. An emotional seesaw.
ADHD comes from being born different, but not in a bad way; unique, sensitive and aware.
However, the results of some of the
effects make for fear and loneliness:
Being aware and sensitive means that it’s
difficult to concentrate on just one thing,
because there are so many things going on.
This makes it difficult to learn and
understand when you’re not focused.
When attention is scattered it looks like
a lack of trying, but really it’s focusing
on SO MUCH.
Because there’s so much to focus on, it’s
easy to forget things other people are
easily irritated by this.
Sometimes the overloaded brain shuts
down and zones out.
Because most people don’t have such acute sensitivity and awareness, it’s difficult for them to understand.
What’s more, they pick on problems and dysfunction, missing the incredible brilliance, gifts and talents.
Know that you’ll always have heightened sensitivity. You’ll always see more of the potential of life than most, be more sensitive and get more overwhelmed than others. Be on top of your assets so you can accentuate them, and identify your struggles, so you can manage them.
It’s scary to be different (until you embrace it!), because everyone wants to belong.
It can feel scary, hopeless, as if there’s no way out. Which is why we’re here, to help make sense of this situation.
It’s scary because you know you have wonderful potential. Therefore, you just want to get out and live.
